Prevention Education - Junior High

  • Image and Your Self-Esteem — During this program, students will look at how they view themselves and how that can make a difference between positive and negative self-esteem. Students will explore the possible influence of media trends, music, magazines and advertising on their self-esteem. They will participate in various activities that will help define self-esteem, recognize their uniqueness, and rate their self-esteem.
  • What Is a Healthy Relationship? — This program uses a video to show the different relationships that a teen might experience. They will explore the healthy and unhealthy aspects of a relationship. Students will fill out a survey of their relationship skills and be able to assess these skills for themselves.
  • Sexual Harassment — The goal of this presentation is to define the causes, effects, and solutions to sexual harassment in a way that encourages teens to discover healthy interpersonal skills. The presentation will also include procedures to follow if a person is being sexually harassed.
  • Safety Plan — This program opens students' eyes to the threat and reality of violence. Specific strategies are designed for keeping safe at school, on the street, and on the Internet. This program empowers students to think about how they act and behave, and then plan in advance how to stay safe when trouble would strike.
