Everyone deserves to have control over their lives, and sexual violence often makes survivors feel like their control was ripped away.

In order to help our clients gain their control back, Growing Strong is committed to providing client-centered care.

Our clients control every aspect of their healing journey while we are here to support and answer any questions they may have.
24/7 Crisis Intervention
A crisis is a time of intense difficulty, trouble, or danger. Crisis Intervention is a short-term management technique to help an individual process complex thoughts and emotions and return to normalcy.
A state of crisis can be extremely overwhelming and happen at any moment for any reason. Everyone experiences crisis at some point in their lives, especially if a traumatic event has occurred at some point. A crisis may or may not be a direct result of a traumatic experience. The important thing is to know you are not alone. You are allowed to feel what you are feeling.
Our counselors assist survivors in their healing process and empower them to make healthy life changes and decisions through a combination of therapy techniques including:
-
Play Therapy
-
Sand Tray Therapy
-
Art Therapy
-
Narrative Therapy & Journaling
-
Talk Therapy
Survivors of all ages are encouraged to learn about body safety, consent, establishing healthy boundaries and relationships, developing a positive self-image, and discovering their strengths.
At Growing Strong we validate our clients by letting them lead their journey and working with them to establish healthy coping skills and goal setting.
Counseling
Sexual Assault can affect a survivor's life in many ways, from income to housing, & more. Our Case manager helps our clients along their journey by bridging the gap between our services, the needs of our clients, and other community services.
Our case manager is in charge of all client intakes to get a full picture of what a client needs. This includes:
-
Matching a client to the services we provide
-
Assessing obstacles a client may face on their path to healing
-
Referring a client to other community organizations to help with housing, mental healthcare, income support, or other services
-
Follow up with clients during their journey to ensure we are meeting their service goals

Resource Room
Our resource room is a space designated for our clients to provide a quiet and goal-orientated place to get certain work done. Our Case Manager is able to assist clients on filing paperwork, making important phone calls, building resumes, etc.
Case
Management
Growing Strong’s support groups provide a confidential & non-judgmental environment where our clients can come together to support one another, gain coping skills, and find strength in solidarity.
In our sessions, participants have the opportunity to:
-
Share their stories and experiences in a supportive and understanding community
-
Learn practical strategies for coping with trauma and managing triggers
-
Explore themes of empowerment, resilience, and self-care
-
Build meaningful connections with fellow survivors and allies
We believe that by coming together, we can find healing, hope, and strength in each other's stories.
Remember, you are not alone, and support is available.
Support Groups
Growing Strong Sexual Assault Center offers education on the prevention of sexual violence and related topics for the communities we serve.
Prevention comes in many forms, at all levels of life; from respecting when your child does not want a hug, to laws that protect survivors. Our educators provide prevention programming that align with the social ecological model and CDC requirements to ensure all areas of our community member's lives are impacted.

In addition to community workshops/presentations, we provide PreK-12 school-based lessons on Erin's Law, Bully Prevention, & more.
Prevention
Education
Advocating with other systems can be a challenging process since most institutions have objectives that go beyond solely supporting a survivor of sexual assault. At Growing Strong, supporting survivors is our focus. Our advocates provide information and emotional support for survivors while acting as liaisons between the survivor and the police, hospital staff, and the state's attorney throughout the court or hospital process.
If a survivor presents at the hospital an advocate will always arrive promptly and discuss the survivors’ rights, medical procedures, and possible options, and discuss an evidence collection kit. An advocate can also explain the criminal justice process, and sexual assault laws, as well as assist the survivor in filing for the crime victim’s compensation or a protective order.
Medical &
Legal Advocacy
Growing Strong also provides Professional Training on a wide range of topics in order to prepare professionals on the prevention, response, and affects of sexual violence.

-

-

-
Prevention of Sexual Violence & Bystander Intervention
-
Response to Disclosures of Sexual Abuse

These trainings are a great way to actively fight against sexual violence, all while gaining necessary skills & knowledge that can be applied to any career, whether its within criminal justice, the medical field, education, or even hospitality.
